  • Lunch:  650
  • Snack 2:  200
  • Dinner:  650

New Day 1

Holidays happened. But today I hit up the treadmill for 45 minutes and watch and episode of Gotham on Netflix. It felt good, I only walked. I set my alarms for 5:00am tomorrow so that I may get after again. Healthy eating and exercise are priority one for me.

Day 7

Back Sweat

Woke up at 4:00am - spend 1 hour in bed and got out at 5:00am.  Proceeded to make coffee grab water and strech.  Hopped on the treadmill and alternated walk run every quarter mile for about 45 minutes.  Everything felt great!  Although, I'm only really sweating on my back and my stomach - not so much anywhere else?  I also realized my treadmill was in metric mode, so my distances werent quite right.  I only realized this when it appeared I was running a 37 minute 5K, when actually I was only at 3.1 K  Overall my apple watch has me at about 2.5 miles.

Still room for improvement with Sleep schedule, but I'm glad I got a workout in.

Day 6

I woke up at 4:00am, but promptly feel back asleep until about 6:00am  I was in bed until about 6:30 reading online articles, browsing facebook, etc.  Then I realized that I had a 7:30am call with the offshore folks and needed to be on that call.  7:30am is when we need to get Little One out the door to school, but I didn't have enough time to do it before hand and I didn't want her to wait for me - (as Waifu pointed out, she typically has bad days when they start with TV)

THANKFULLY, Waifu took Little One to school and I was able to make the call.  However, the dog peed in the basement again because I didn't take him / let him out.  It would seem that failing this morning has a cascaded affect that came out on the dog :/ - and Waifu too.

As for today, I will try to get a workout in over lunch.

Day 5

no zero days.

No zero days means having no days where zero progress is made toward goals. Today was almost one of those days, but I’m counting this blog post as progress. Our family had a very busy weekend !  Little one and Waifu were making music at church, and we hosted a holiday party with friends. Making these connections and generating this atmosphere is also a huge  win, and it is ultimately progress towards our social and community goals.

I didn’t get a chance to work out, and I slept in. I also napped for a little bit this afternoon.  Tomorrow I plan to get up at 4:00 and try again. Overall I have a busy week with multiple initiates in flight.

End blog.

Day 4

blew it. I still woke up at 5:00am but felt terrible. Tired. Groggy. Cold. Sore. I setup the Switch downstairs and figured I’ll just take a rest day. I kept falling asleep while playing the new Pokémon game. Now it’s 8:30 and the day has started with Lena waking up and Ann doing things. We were out later last night at a concert, but we were back here around 9:00pm or so. I slept on the couch because I was made at Waifu for something not her fault. I was also very tired and cranky and did boot eat enough yesterday. Today is party day and I’ve already kicked it off with a doughnut. Which is not what I should eat. It was fast easy and good though. We have the ingredients for my normal breakfast again but I just feel tired groggy cold and sore so I don’t wanna do anything.  :(.

Whatever I guess tomorrow’s another day.   I’m also pissed about some other family stuff regarding the grand baby snake.

Day 3

Woof.

I knew today would be one of the toughest, as last night I felt the effects of waking up earlier all week around the middle of dinner last night.  All i wanted was to go to bed, but we had to make it home from Buffalo Wild wings.  Probably my least favorite restaurant, especially when it comes to healthy choices, but one thing I learned from previous weight management attempts is that an "all or nothing" policy is not sustainable and will push people away.  I feel like I did not overeat and did not order an overly portioned burger, just a cheeseburger and fries.  Waifu really likes this restaurant and she seemed overwhelmed from yesterday, so I acquiesced to BWW.

Overall, I didn't really make it out of bed today until after 5:00am, but I had a brief window at 4:00am where I woke up, then feel back asleep immediately.  I did notice last night that there were a couple of times that I could have fallen asleep for the night - once in bed, once snuggling Lena.  Then after those two I had trouble falling asleep.  I tired to imagine counting sleep jumping over a fence.  That wasn't really interesting so I tried counting Waifus jumping over a fence.  That was more entertaining but still didn't work.  I eventually fell asleep but I need to work on my bed time routine.

The workout today wasn't too bad, but I admittedly pushed myself to run more because of the cheeseburger from the night before.  I ran at a 4 on treadmill for a quarter mile in 3 sets, with the third set pushing the pace to full sprint.  Full sprint felt baaaaaad but I remember this is a process, and it will take time for a speed of 4 to be the new normal. Overall distance wise I went about 2 miles.  I am looking forward to building back up to a 5K and being able to do some races next year.

Day 2

Managed to wake up closer to 4:30 but didn't get out of bed until 4:50ish.  Got up, programmed the coffee, realized its Thursday so I rolled the trash can out to road.  Since I was dressed anyway, I went ahead an walked the dog.  I also wanted to be more visible, so I looked for some of our safety vests from when we ran more.  It was a shorter walk, Doggo seemed to be moving slow so we came back.  While out I noticed most of the people that have christmas lights were turned off, so it reminded me set our outside lights on the timer we had from Vale ct.  We had used that timer on a space heater and I thought we still had it.  I set it up and appreciated it's simplistic design -

Workout wise I started out with a little light streching and foam rolling, then hit the treadmill for about 45 minutes with a distance of 1.5 miles.  Yesterday I went a mile so I wanted to push a little further.  My chest muscles are sore from yesterday, so I kept it only Cardio today.

I watched the rest of guardians of the galaxy on Netflix that I had started a little earlier in the week.  Not the best workout material, but its something.    I really enjoy the Marvel movies.

GOALS:
215 pounds
Fast & lean

Achieved through:
Running
Biking
Strength Training

I'd like to be in good enough shape to go skiing next winter. Maybe this winter if I'm feeling good.

I've been thinking about trying out a crossfit gym here in town.  I always thought crossfit was a little lame, rife with people getting injured because they push to hard trying to compete with others, or doing the workouts with improper form.  I will probably try it but I am feel it might be a little too BRO for me.  "Bro what's your WOD?  Piddle Puddles?  Jack Jumpers?  Floor is lava?"  Then again maybe I'm being too hard on it and just need to try it.  I like what my neighbor said about "just show up and an hour later your done"

Day 1

Today is the first day I tried waking up at 4am to work up.  I didn't actually get out of bed until 4:45 or so, but it's a start.

I got dressed in the outfit I laid out the night before, setup the coffee maker to make coffee at 6:00am, got some water and headed down to the basement.

The previous owners of this house left an old style Tube TV with only an RCA input and coaxial.  Last night I fashioned a DVD player and the only thing I could find was a Jillian Micheals DVD.  I turned it on this morning and found it wasn't really for me, that and I had no remote to navigate the DVD menu.  I stretched on the foam roller for a bit then got on the treadmill for 1 mile.  I also got my laptop out and fired up netflix - found the original series of Mako mermaids and watched it.   Overall it was ok.  I used my apple watch to keep tabs on my heart rate and listened to how my body was feeling.  After that I did some 3 sets of 10 on dumbell press, then some biceps curls on each arm.

I stretched out a bit felt like I was done.  I wanted to start out slow and I think this was a good start.  I’ve never been a morning person but it makes sense with kid and job that early AM is a good time to workout.  I was inspired to try this after Mark Whalberg posted his daily routine where he gets up at like 2:30am or something.  That seems a little much for me, but I have read that a lot of successful people do get up early (Tim Cook, various CEOs, etc)
